Corporate university

Traditional campus education or online education offers students programs, courses, degrees and certificates in their chosen areas of study or specialization. These could be undergraduate programs, post graduate programs or research programs. A corporate university is unlike a regular university in that it does not offer any broad based programs or certificates. A corporate university is a university set up by a corporate either in its campus or an outside place allocated for this purpose. A corporate university imparts training to its employees and offers specialization in the particular trade that the corporate is involved in.

A corporate university is set up to improve existing skill sets of its employees or upgrade their knowledge base of existing strategies and techniques. A corporate university might also be set up to train its employees in case of a new expansion of the companies’ operations.  Setting up a corporate university can increase employee loyalty and increase interaction between employees. This in turn could result in better team work and hence better overall results for the company. A corporate university also helps maintain and retain employee base. With increased competition in all sectors of the business world, more and more corporate/companies are setting up corporate universities to retain an edge over the competition.
